Graduate Performance In Oral Communication -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Graduate Performance In Oral Communication? Answer: Introduction See- During the event I had seen that the method of communication varies from place to place. It was shown that communication at a professional place is different from a private place. The two modules that I had undertaken were the oral communication and the communication that is done in the modern world. I had seen that the oral communication needed to be precise and in a management, the people can understand. While presenting an oral communication, it is necessary that the words be spoken in a clear manner. An example of such type of communication was shown in the event. It was depicted in the form of role-playing between two volunteers. It was shown that the forms of communication that take place today involve short messages and emoticons for expressing the feeling of people. Do- In the event, I had frequently asked questions about the areas in which I had felt slight doubts. This helped me to clear my mind and focus on the events. I had asked questions during the questioning sessions that were provided after the end of each section. I had even answered questions that were asked at random. The answering of questions was viewed as a learning experience from my part. This is because I could test my knowledge about the topic and could learn from the mistakes that I had made. This was a good experience for me as I could showcase my talents in front of the people. I took an active participation in the event by being involved in every manner. Hear- I heard about the speeches that were made by the professors and the use of various communication theories. These speeches were important, as I had developed a clear idea about the methods of communication that exists. For example, during the speech, it was said that during oral communication at a professional place one could not use offensive languages. The application of models of communication such as Schramms model helped me to understand the manner in which communication can flow from one place to another. I heard real-life examples being provided for better understanding of the situation. These examples provided better insights into the mindset of the people and the manner in which proper communication skill can help to develop a successful career. Interpreting and evaluating the events Present thoughts- After attaining the event I feel that I have gained knowledge deep about the methods used for communication. The forms of communication that are used in the modern days are unique and provide opportunities for people to speak out more words. It has been seen that during oral communication one need to speak about the thoughts that nurture instantly in the mind of a person. However, the use of messages can allow a person to think clearly before typing in the message (Blair, 2016). Hence, it can be said that the modern form of communication is better than the oral communication. However, it is difficult to understand the emotions of a person during the use of messages. Despite using emoticons, the natural expression of people cannot be judged while communicating in messages (Griffin, 2016). Thus, this proves to be a counter argument as in this view, oral communication is better than the communication used today. In my opinion, a mixture of both forms of communication is essential. This is because, with a change in the society, the mode of communicating with people also changes. Hence, it is necessary to adapt to the changing environment as well as maintain the traditional form of oral communication. Relation to other things- The use of theories, case examples, real-life examples and role play have made me believe the things that I am already aware of. This includes the process of maintaining professional communication with people. The use of languages, emoticons and signs need to be checked while communicating with people that are involved with me in a professional place. I also knew that the modern form of communication is done by using messages via social networking sites and applications. I already knew the advantages and disadvantages of these types of messages. The event helped me to enhance my knowledge about these form of communication. Explaining the experience New insights- The experience that I had after attending the event have provided me with clear and new insights. Earlier I was of the opinion that communication flows from receiver to sender in a very simple manner. However, after the demonstration of the model related to communication, I have understood that the flow of messages is a complicated process. Oral and direct communication with people can be maintained easily without any complexity. However, in professional places, particularly the places that involve intercepting messages from a different source, the mode of flow of messages is complex. This was a new insight that I developed after attending the meeting. I had even managed to assess my level of communication while interacting with the professors delivering the lectures and asking questions. Connections- It is always important to establish proper level of connection with different learning experiences (Jackson, 2014). In this case, I have seen that the knowledge and insights that I had earlier about communication process are almost the same after attending the event. I had managed to marketing a connection with a similar event that I had attended earlier that demonstrated the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication. The manner, in which the importance of such communication practice was stated, highlighted similar trends in oral communication. Such connection has helped me to understand the effectiveness of the communication system and the fact that communication in todays generation is quite similar to the verbal and non-verbal communication. The use of messages for communication can be considered as a form of non-verbal communication as it does not involve direct interaction with the people. Hypothesis- The hypothesis that could be drawn after attending the meeting is that oral communication can be the most important form of communication. However, at times the use of non-verbal communication can also be effective. In the modern world, the modes of communication undertaken by the people can be effective for making personal communication (Lum et al., 2014). Based on this hypothesis can be drawn that states that without communication, it can be difficult for people to express their thoughts and ideas. Hence, it is necessary for people to understand the mode of communication that is being used while communicating in personal life or at a professional workplace. Conclusion- Thus, it can be concluded that the different forms of communication exist in a cohesive manner. The link between oral communication and the communication method implemented in the modern world provide an insight into the dependence of oral communication. The manner in which communication can be maintained includes analysis of the situation. The examples provided in the event were effective for developing the skills required for proper communication. Communication has been seen as a source of success for many people. Hence, people need to develop their skills related to communication and ensure that these skills are put to good use for trying to build a successful professional career. Reflecting on the usefulness of the information Questions to be asked- The event will be useful for the development of my knowledge related to communication. I can test my communication skill by using various communication skill tests that can help me to understand the type of communication that I possess. I can take up tests such as Talkaholic test, non-verbal communication test and soft skill test to analyse the level of communication. Furthermore, I can ask questions related to the topic at hand. I can ask my professors to provide me with more details about the effectiveness of these skill tests and the ways by which I can put the results to good practice. I can even ask questions related to understanding the communication model in detail. Thoughts about the situation- Before attending the event, my thoughts about communication were vague. However, after attending the event, I have gained a detailed insight into communication and the manner in which it can be effective for developing a successful career. The complexity that exists in the transferring of a message from one place to another has changed my thoughts about communication. I have also changed my thought about communicating via messages or social networks. This is because messages provide extra time to people for communicating and writing down their thoughts. This is an important source of communication and people need to use this frequently along with oral communication. Future course of action- My future course of action will be to analyse my communication skill. I need to understand my disabilities and work on them so that I can have a proper career. I can take help from people that provide communication counselling and enrol myself in communication courses to help me in my communication process. Doing so can secure my future and I can hope to make a proper career out of communication. References Bergmann, J., Luckmann, T. and Quasthoff, U., 2015.
